Michael
B. Raizman, MD is an internationally recognized cornea specialist
and leader in LASIK and PRK surgery using the latest technology.
He has extensive experience using the Visx CustomVue Wavefront
laser, Intralase bladeless technology to create the corneal flap;

. Dr. Raizman began using the Excimer Laser in 1991 as an investigator
for the early U.S. trials of the Summit Laser. He has continued
to serve as an investigator for new developments in laser technology.
Dr. Raizman has taught hundreds of ophthalmologists in the use
of the Excimer Laser. He is a leader in cataract surgery and has
performed thousands of cataract procedures, including clear lensectomies,
toric and multifocal lens implants. His surgical expertise also
includes multiple anterior segment procedures such as pterygium
surgery, conjunctival surgery, corneal transplantation, excimer
laser for phototherapeutic keratectomy and medical treatment of
the cornea.
Dr.
Raizman received his training at the University of Michigan and
Harvard Medical School. He completed two Fellowships at the Massachusetts
Eye and Ear Infirmary, followed by three years of research at
Harvard Medical School, funded by a grant from the National Institute
of Health. Dr. Raizman served on the full-time faculty at Harvard
Medical School from 1988-1991. He is a Fellow of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology and is certified by the American Board
of Ophthalmology. He now serves as an examiner for doctors seeking
certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Dr. Raizman
is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University
School of Medicine and has directed its Corneal Fellowship Training
Program there since 1991. He is on the medical staff at Tufts
Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Raizman
is on the editorial board of the Archives of Ophthalmology and
Therapeutic Updates in Ophthalmology.
Dr.
Raizman has been invited to speak at the annual American Academy
of Ophthalmology Refractive Surgery Meeting and the American Society
of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Annual Meeting on new techniques
in refractive surgery. He received an honor award from the American
Academy of Ophthalmology for his scientific presentations and
educational activities. In 2007, Dr. Raizman received the Senior
Award from the Academy of Ophthalmology for his contribution to
the education of ophthalmologists over the past 20 years.
Dr.
Raizman has delivered over 350 invited lectures throughout the
United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia
and has been a visiting professor at the medical schools of Columbia
University, University of California at Los Angeles, University
of Michigan, University of Texas, Loyola, and others.
Dr.
Raizman has authored over 60 medical journal articles, book chapters,
CD-ROM programs, and books; he was selected by his peers to be
included in the latest and multiple previous editions of Best
Doctors in America. Dr. Raizman is included in “Who’s
Who in America” and “Boston Magazine” has repeatedly
recognized him as one of the top doctors in Boston.
Dr.
Raizman has been with Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston since 1991
and has performed thousands of refractive surgery procedures,
including many on physicians, surgeons, children and spouses of
his medical colleagues, as well as professional athletes, pilots,
government leaders and hospital administrators from Boston, New
England and across the United States. He has also performed refractive
surgery on many of the OCB physicians, nurses, administrators
and technicians.
