Personal Bio

Dr. Richard J. Duffey, a cornea, laser refractive surgery, and cataract specialist, has been performing a wide array of cornea and lens surgeries for over 20 years including customized wavefront-guided laser assisted in-situ keratomileusis (custom LASIK), the latest presbyopic lens implants that correct both distance and near vision, phakic intraocular lenses (implantable contact lens), corneal transplants, lamellar keratoplasty (DSAEK and ALK), astigmatic keratotomy (AK) and limbal relaxing incisions (LRI), advanced surface laser photorefractive keratoplasty (LASEK, Epi-LASIK, and PRK), and conductive keratoplasty (CK). Dr. Duffey has published numerous articles and textbook chapters on the subject of cornea and lens surgery and currently serves as a refractive surgery editor for Ocular Surgery News and as a reviewer for multiple peer-review journals in his profession.

Dr. Duffey believes that by consistently analyzing clinical outcomes data and advancing LASIK flap creation and laser technology, the medical field of refractive surgery is approaching the ideal for rapid visual recovery and improved visual function following laser vision correction. By matching the right patient with the right technology and the right surgeon…the best results can be achieved.
