Surgeon Bio

Dr. Vahid Feiz has been practicing refractive and cataract surgery since 2001. He has a full-time faculty appointment at the Department of Ophthalmology of the UC Davis, where he serves as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, and the Director of Refractive Surgery. Previously, Dr. Feiz was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Refractive Surgery at the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he was honored with the Meritorious Service Award of the Department of Ophthalmology.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO), Dr. Feiz served as an Associate Examiner of the ABO since 2007. He is professionally active in several professional organizations. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology (PAAO), the Eye Bank Association of America and the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

In addition to his research and training of ophthalmology residents and fellows at UC Davis, Dr. Feiz has published over 15 peer-reviewed research articles in ophthalmology as well as 2 text book chapters. He has also made over 15 presentations of research at meetings of eye doctors, both locally and nationally.

Dr. Feiz earned a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry at Iowa State University where he was awarded the American Society of Chemists Award. He is also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honors society. He attended medical school at the Washington School of Medicine in St. Louis Missouri after which he did his internship at St. John’s Mercy Hospital, also in St. Louis. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the School of Medicine at Boston University and his fellowship in corneal and external diseases at the Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences at the UC Davis School of Medicine.
